In this space in time, God-ordained leaders have to be God-ordained listeners. [youtube jHsbwY4EPyA]
First, we need to be leaders who put ourselves in a place to hear from God. As the saying goes, don't confuse busyness with effectiveness, especially when it comes to spiritual leadership. Second, we need to hear what God is doing in and through the lives of the people we lead. This requires an investment of time with people (Not checking in on their tweets, not flooding them with emails, not texting them, etc. Being physically present with people). As leaders we need to be people who speak vision into the lives of our people, more so than just speaking vision into an organization. We make the mistake of assuming people will change their lives because of the grand vision of an organization, but people buy into change when there is vision cast for their own lives. The best organizational vision is one that speaks a clear vision into the lives of the individuals involved. A leader who says, "God told me we should do ________," doesn't realize that people hear, "God made me boss, so do what I say or God is going to be so disappointed."
